The TPC Twin Cities All-Stars are Heading Back to the National Championship

Seven all-star teams of junior golfers from Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Illinois, competed in the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Regional Championship at Glen Erin Golf Club in Janesville, Wisconsin, to determine a winner from both the 13u and 17u age divisions.

TPC Twin Cities All-Stars defeated the Eastern Nebraska All-Stars 8.5 - 3.5 in the championship match Sunday afternoon in cold and rainy weather conditions advancing to the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., Oct. 6-9. The event will be televised live on ESPN. 

TPC Twin Cities advanced to the final match with an 8.5 – 3.5 match play win over Cedar Rapids/Iowa City East All-Stars. Eastern Nebraska and South Central(Wisconsin/Illinois) were tied 6-6 after its semi-final match, with Eastern Nebraska advancing with a 9-8 holes-made advantage.

TPC Twin Cities 13u All-Stars led all teams in stroke play in opening round action Saturday with a -27, 15 shots better that second-place teams, Eastern Nebraska 13u All-Stars and South Central 13u All-Stars, each with a -12. Cedar Rapids/Iowa City East 13u All-Stars shot a -3.

This is the second consecutive appearance in the National Championship for TPC Twin Cities All-Stars.

Pleasant View Golf Club 17u All-Stars captured the 17u Championship at the Regional Championship. They would win in dramatic fashion, entering the day in third place, four shots back of the leaders.

With only three teams in the championship, the competition was three rounds of 9-hole stroke play sessions, taking the two best scores from each team. Lake Windsor and The Ridge both shot a 132 in the first two rounds, followed by PVGC Woods with a 136.

In the final round of action, PVGC’s Charles Jambor and Michael Jagoe partnered to shoot a low round score of 30 on nine-holes leading their team to the championship by two strokes with a 199. The Ridge finished in second place with a 201, followed by Lake Windsor #1 with a 203.

Competing in the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship Season for the second year, the growing 17u division (ages 14-17) concludes its All-Star journey at the Regional.
