The Battle Creek All-Stars Earn Third Trip to National Championship in Three Years

The 13U Champions at the PGA Jr. League Regional at The Club at Indian Springs.
This weekend, 12 teams of junior golfers from Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma competed in the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Regional at The Club at Indian Springs in Broken Arrow, Okla., to determine a winner from both the 13u and 17u age divisions.
BATTLE OF THE BATTLE CREEK ALL-STARS RESULTS IN THIRD NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP APPEARANCE
Two hometown teams faced off in the Region 8 13u Championship this weekend, with the Battle Creek 1 13u All-Stars defeating the Battle Creek 2 13u All-Stars to earn their spot in the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. Set for Oct. 6-9, the National Championship will be televised live on ESPN.
Eight teams, comprised of golfers ages 10-13, vied for the Region 8 title at The Club at Indian Springs over the weekend. After the first day of play on Saturday, Broken Arrow’s own Battle Creek 1 13u All-Stars entered the second day of play as the top seed after an impressive 32-under-par qualifying round.

A second team from the same facility (Battle Creek Golf Club in Broken Arrow, Okla.), the Battle Creek 2 13u All-Stars, joined their teammates in the semifinals, garnering a two seed and shooting 13 under par. The Kansas-based Hallbrook Hackers 13u All-Stars (-8) and Quincy, Ill.’s Christensen Golf Academy 13u All-Stars (-4) also advanced to the semifinals.
Eldon, Mo.’s Eldon 13u All-Stars (-4), Illinois-based Oak Brook Orange 13u All-Stars (+12), the Carlyle Lake 13u All-Stars of Carlyle, Ill. (+15) and the St. Louis 1 13u All-Stars (+23) also competed in Saturday’s qualifying round but did not advance to semifinal play.

In Sunday morning’s semifinals, the top-seeded Battle Creek 1 13u All-Stars defeated the Christensen Golf Academy 13u All-Stars in match play, 10.5 to 1.5. The Battle Creek 2 13u All-Stars also advanced to the finals, defeating the Hallbrook Hackers 7-5.
In the afternoon, the Battle Creek teams faced off in match play, with the Battle Creek 1 13u All-Stars besting the Battle Creek 2 13u All-Stars 10 to 2. This marks the team’s third trip to the Championship in as many years.

WHITMOOR 17U ALL-STARS TAKE HOME REGIONAL DIVISION TITLE
Competing in the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship Season for the second year, the growing 17u division (ages 14-17) concludes its All-Star journey at the Regional.
Going into Sunday match play, the Kansas-based KCCC 17u All-Stars led the field, shooting 7-under-par during qualifying play on Saturday. They were followed by the Whitmoor 17u All-Stars of Weldon Spring, Mo. (-6), three seed Courtney Mahon 1 17u of Lenexa, Kan. (+2), and Cabot, Ark.’s Cypress Creek Cyclone 17u All-Stars (+23).
The Whitmoor 17u All-Stars are the Champions at the PGA Jr. League Regional at The Club at Indian Springs.
In Sunday morning’s semifinals, No. 1 KCCC 17u All-Stars defeated No. 4 Cypress Creek in match play, 8-1. The No. 2 Whitmoor 17u All-Stars defeated the No. 3 Courtney Mahon 1 17u All-Stars 5.5-3.5 to advance to the championship. Ultimately, the Whitmoor 17u All-Stars defeated KCCC 5-4 in a close match to claim the Region 8 division title.
