Escape to Golf with Social Media Photos from Whistling Straits

Published on

The 2020 Ryder Cup was originally slated for this weekend at the beautiful Whistling Straits.
Though we have to wait until Sept. 21-26, 2021, to see the United States and Europe battle on the links, there's no bad time to take a peek at the course through the photos from golfers who have been lucky enough to play along the shores of Lake Michigan this summer.
So take a minute to #EscapeToGolf and we're sure that if you haven't been to Whistling Straits yet yourself, you'll be adding it to your bucket list of courses. If you have great photos of the course — or any course for that matter — be sure to upload them to Instagram, Facebook & Twitter with the hashtag #EscapeToGolf to be featured in our weekly series.

The Old Course may have bunkers so famous they have names. But this week, the Ryder Cup should’ve been taking place on a course with so many sand traps you can barely count them all, let alone name them. . . We’ll have to wait another year to see the Ryder Cup come to Wisconsin but when it does, the best from the US and Europe will need to stay out of the estimated 1,000 bunkers. For context, Pebble Beach has 118. . . Some are the size of football fields, others so deep you fear you’ll never get out. The majority are not in play and used primarily by architect Pete Dye to intimidate you and I. . . The great irony of Whistling Straits having more sand traps than any other golf course on earth, is that Dye had to import 13,000 truckloads of sand to give the fairways that links feel because the ground it sits on, is clay. . . . . . #golf #golfer #instagolf #golfcourse #golflife #whyilovethisgame #pga #golfisfun #golfaddict #thegolfstagram #anythinggolf #golfers #wisconsin #golfdigest #birdiecage #golfislife #usopen #golfstagram #golfclub #golfing #welovegolf #pgatour #golfswing #whistlingstraits #golfusa #golfcoursephotos #instagolfer #rydercup #bestgolfcourses #tigerwoods pic credit: Trey Wingo
