Brad Marek, PGA, Makes Waves at the PGA Championship

Published on

Brad Marek didn't just show up for the PGA Championship, he came to make waves. He also played to stay through the weekend. Marek and Ben Cook are the two PGA Professionals who made the cut from the Team of 20 who teed off on Thursday.
Marek is a member of the Northern California Section of the PGA of America and is a popular teacher in his area at his course, Corica Park. His focus is on junior golfers who are looking to be recruited. Last summer, he would drive over 60+ miles a day to continue teaching when the pandemic closed his course down.
During the PGA Championship, he became partially famous overnight due to his unorthodox warm-up routine showcased on the range surround by some of the world's best. He then got people talking again when he carded two rounds +1 73 back to back in Rounds One and Two, nearing the top 20 and landing above many familiar names.
In round one he made one birdie and one eagle, which was a sight to see and one birdie, in the second round he stepped on the gas and made a whopping FIVE birdies. And some of them were a sight to see.
From long putts...
To chip-in birdies...
To near hole-outs...
To finally securing his place above the cut line...
His first two rounds were chalk full of fantastic moments, but he didn't stop there. In the third round on Saturday, he carded two more birdies on the front nine:
Brad Marek's PGA Championship debut is one that he will surely never forget. Regardless of where he ends up on the leaderboard by Sunday's end, Marek has left an unforgettable mark on the 2021 PGA Championship and has inspired many.
