History
The PGA Cup was first played in 1973 and is a biennial contest between PGA Professional from the PGA of Great Britain & Ireland and the PGA of America.
The 2019 PGA Cup, the 29th edition of the event, was contested at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas. It was won by the United States in historic fashion, 14 to 12. The 2022 edition will be held for the second time at the Foxhills Club in Surrey, England. Foxhills also hosted in 2017, when the GB&I Team won 16-10.
The event is seen as the pinnacle for any PGA Professional as both teams go head-to-head in a Ryder Cup format to win The Llandudno International Trophy.
Format
The event is contested by teams of 10 players over 3 days, with four foursomes and four fourball matches on each of the first two days, and 10 singles matches on the final day.
