Hero World Challenge 2018: TV schedule, field list, leaderboard
The top golfers in the world will head to the Bahamas this week to take part in the Hero World Challenge, hosted by Tiger Woods. Here is some information about the tournament, who will be there and how you can follow all the action.
The Tournament
The Hero World Challenge began in January 2000, with Tom Lehman winning the inaugural tournament at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. The annual tournament, which benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation, was moved to December later in 2000 and has been held then ever since. Tiger Woods has won his event five times, most recently in 2011. Graeme McDowell and Davis Love III are the only other repeat winners, each having won twice.
The Hero World Challenge was played at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California from December 2000 through 2013. In 2014, the tournament was held at Isleworth Golf & Country Club. In 2015, it was moved to Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas where the tournament continues to be held.
Rickie Fowler is the defending champion. He won the 2017 tournament shooting a final-round record 61 to erase a seven-shot deficit and defeat Charley Hoffman.
The Field
The 18-player field is comprised of the most recent winners of the four major tournaments, the top 11 available players from the Official World Golf Ranking, the defending champion, and two special exemption players selected by the foundation. Here is the field list for this year (Official World Ranking in parenthesis):
