New Zealand man plays record 237 holes of golf in 12 hours

To the average golfer, playing 18 holes in 4 hours can sometimes be taxing. Playing 36 holes in a day is considered to be a bit of a marathon. How about 237 holes in 12 hours?

According to a New Zealand news website stuff.co.nz, that’s how many holes of golf New Zealand marathoner Brad Luiten played at the Helensville Golf Club to shatter the Guinness world record that previously stood at 221.

It’s unknown what score he shot on any of his rounds, but we do know he was armed with only a 6 iron to help keep up his speed. According to the course website, it is an 18-hole, par 71 layout that measures 5,587 meters from the back tees, or 6,110 yards.

When interviewed after the accomplishment, Luiten said “the first 10 rounds were easy” before things got difficult.

In addition to the individual accomplishment, Luiten also was running for a good cause. He was raising money for the charity Bowel Cancer New Zealand in honor of a friend who died of the disease.

To save you from the math, playing 237 holes in 12 hours equals 13 full rounds plus three more holes. At a pace of play rate of just over 3 minutes per hole, Luiten sure could take advantage of some good twilight deals.
