It's no surprise that one of the more popular destinations to play golf in the U.S. is on the Gulf Coast.

1. World Woods Golf Club in Brooksville, Fla. Designer Tom Fazio has regarded World Woods as, "my best work." Furthermore, it's the home to not one, but two Top-100 courses.

2. The Hombre Golf Club in Panama City Beach, Fla. Home to three courses with arguably the coolest names in golf -- The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. It has played host several times to various stages of PGA Tour Qualifying School.

The rates change depending on the season, but there aren't many top courses in the country that you can play for less than $100 during peak season. Kiva Dunes is one of them.

5. Rock Creek Golf Club in Fairhope, Ala. With many elevation changes, Rock Creek is as beautiful as it is challenging.

6. The Newport Dunes Golf Club, Port Aransas, Texas. Opened in 2008, Newport Dunes is a Scottish links-style course developed by Arnold Palmer. It was inspired by the best courses in Scotland and Ireland. If you ask me, enough said.

7. The Bridges Golf Club at Hollywood Casino in Bay St. Louis, Miss. Throughout the course of this particular, 'A Quick Nine,' it's become quite apparent that Arnold Palmer is a huge fan of the Gulf Coast. The Bridges Golf Course is the only Palmer Signature course in Mississippi and is ranked as one of the top-40 casino course destinations in the country.

9. Innisbrook Resort & Golf Club, Copperhead, in Palm Harbor, Fla. Annually, this is one of the most challenging stops on the PGA Tour. Anyone who has ever been to Innisbrook raves about the beauty and the service.
