Darren Black has been golfing all his life, first learning how to play from his mom and dad as a toddler. He then played as a junior golfer in Idaho and learned a lot from the PGA Professionals at Lewiston Golf & Country Club. He was able to make the varsity high school golf team as a freshman before moving on to play collegiate golf at Lewis-Clark State College in Idaho. During his senior year of college, he was nationally ranked as high as #12 in the country. After college, he moved to Arizona and played on a few mini tours, mostly in the Southwest US. In 2005 he moved to Portland, OR, and he then transitioned into a PGA Professional and started his PGA Membership which he earned in 2008. Since his move back into the Northwest he has qualified for the National Professional Championship 3 times, he was the 2015 WA State Open Champion, and in 2014 he won the Pacific Northwest Section Player of the year!

Darren's teaching experience and playing career has helped him develop a well-rounded philosophy when it comes to teaching any skill level. He doesn't believe in method teaching or a "one size fits most" approach, and every student at any level can have success and fun. His current "ace student" is a collegiate golfer at University of WA, and she won multiple events including the 2021 Women's WA State Amateur. He looks forward to talking with you about your goals and helping you achieve them, no matter how small or large those goals may be!
