Joshua B. Anderson, PGA
PGA ProfessionalBorn and raised in Missoula, I have been involved with golf my entire life. From my earliest days following my dad around Montana courses as a kid, I have enjoyed the game for nearly forty years. I began playing golf as soon as I could swing a club. But what really motivated me was when, at 8 years old, I began taking lessons from legendary teaching pro Bob Veroulis, who coached me from my earliest days throughout high school. I credit him with inspiring me to work on my game and actually enjoy the learning process. Bob’s lessons coupled with a desire to improve my game lead me to take a deep dive into swing analysis and what makes the golf ball fly the way it does. Looking back, even as a kid I had a strong feeling I would have a career in golf. Fifteen years ago, I entered the PGA apprenticeship program with the goal of becoming a Head Golf Professional. After years of schooling and experience working as an assistant pro, I finally landed my first head professional job in 2012 at the world-renowned Wilderness Club in Eureka, MT. Following six years of being the head pro there, Indian Springs GC and Livingston GC, I realized that managing facilities and tending to members’ needs was not nearly as satisfying as teaching the game to students who might otherwise not have the chance to learn from a qualified professional. I needed to get back to what made me love the game to begin with - the physics and execution of the golf swing. Although my career has included all aspects of the business of golf, teaching golf is the field I most enjoy. Recognizing that there is not nearly enough affordable, quality instruction in this part of the country, I left the world of golf course management and began the Anderson Golf Academy. My goal is simple: to bring my passion for the game and my training as a certified PGA teaching pro to the more rural areas of Montana, places where quality instruction is sorely needed. I created a traveling golf school where I can bring my passion and instruction to different rural communities in and around Montana. The emphasis is on introducing golf to Juniors and Ladies who may lack opportunities to learn. My clinics have always been popular and successful so I know students will enjoy the benefits of getting their game on the right track by having fun while learning.
