Joe Plecker is a PGA Master Golf Professional in Teaching & Coaching and an active member of GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers in America. He has been coaching for 31 years and recently passed his 25 year membership milestone with the PGA. Joe is the 2024 Georgia PGA Teacher of the Year. He is also a member of the PGA’s National Education Adjunct Faculty and helps Associates with their teaching content for all levels leading to membership. Joe has recently been named the Head of Ambassadors for Swing Catalyst, the world’s premier teaching software, pressure, and ground force plate system for coaches and players to best interpret and understand ground reaction forces. He plays an active role in Swing Catalyst Education both online and in person at certification events.

Joe’s teaching career began in the pre-technology era under the mentorship of his father, Coleman Plecker, who is one of the PGA’s first Master Professionals. He was fortunate to have spent many years learning about teaching as a student of Bill “Coach” Strausbaugh, Jr. at Columbia Country Club in Maryland, near his father’s club, Manor Country Club in Rockville. Bill instilled in Joe a desire to always be an active learner on all things related to his craft. Working for Hall of Fame Coaches Jim McLean and Mike Adams, Joe has learned from legends how to help players best. He is an early adopter of BioSwing Dynamics and Adaptive Golf practices learned through coaching with the Wounded Warriors Program.

As technologies have evolved around our game, Joe has used a combination of high speed video, club and ball flight radar, pressure, and ground force data to understand how a player’s unique structure creates a “signature” in their optimal golf swings. His nearly decade-long relationship with Swing Catalyst has led to distinct research on pressure and force data that define how players vary across multiple variables. He freely shares how coaches can assess players quickly from the “top down” to match forces from the “ground up” with (and without) pressure plates.
