Golf Lingo

Often when trying a new activity, there are various terms that a beginner would be unfamiliar with.   Have no fear; “golf language” is fairly simple to pick up! We’ll cover a few terms that will help you get around, whether socializing near or far from the course. Here are a few of more frequently used terms to get you started:

• “Bag drop” is a designated area where you may place your clubs upon arrival or departure from the golf course.
• “Driving Range” is an area where you can practice or seek professional lessons for your full swing.
• “Putting Green” or “Practice Green” is a space where you can work on your putting and is solely for practicing putting.
• “Golf Shop” is a friendly area where you can seek out information about the golf course, sign up for lessons, purchase equipment or ask questions if needed.
• “Clubhouse” is most likely the largest building at the golf course.  In here you can find the restrooms, possibly food and beverage and a place to change shoes or clothing.  This is usually the hub of the golf operation.
