Longtime puttermaker Ray Cook Golf to hold auction for all its assets
The assets of Ray Cook Golf, a longtime clubmaker whose putters have been used in more than 200 wins on the PGA Tour, will be auctioned off on June 8, company officials have announced.
The auction includes a complete single lot bulk sale offering of all tangible and intangible assets, including the rights, patents, common law and registered trademarks, physical inventory and capital equipment. The company's inventory includes nine putter lines and more than 40 designs of putters and wedges. Assets also include manufacturing equipment and furnishings, as well as marketing vehicles such as the company website and URL, and customer mailing lists.
The designs and names created by the company also include the legendary Ray Cook mallet putter design, as well as the Blue Goose and the renowned Ray Cook Chipper, both invented by Titleist craftsman Scotty Cameron, who began his golf career with Ray Cook.
Ray Cook Golf putters have been on the greens for nearly 50 years, and Ray Cook is the only independent putter manufacturer to have garnered a PGA Tour victory in each decade since the 1960s. The first triumph came with Bruce Crampton's win in the 1963 Texas Open, and victories in major championships came in the 1970 and 1976 PGA Championships (Dave Stockton), the 1992 PGA Championship (Nick Price), the 1967 British Open (Roberto Di Vicenzo), the 1969 U.S. Open (Orville Moody) and the 1970 Masters (Billy Casper).
Heritage Global Partners has been selected to conduct the auction, which will be held at the Barton Creek Resort Conference Center in Austin. Registered bidders will also be able to participate in the auction over a dedicated teleconference line.
The Ray Cook auction comes less than five four months after Adams Golf has acquired putter maker Yes! Golf in a U.S. Bankruptcy Court auction for $1.5 million in January. Yes! Golf has been integrated into the Adams Golf operations in Plano, Texas, and a lie of Yes! putters has returned to the marketplace.
