Junior PGA Championship Alums Competing in the 2021 US Open

The US Open, the third men's Major Championship of the season, is about to kick off at Torrey Pines this week and there are plenty of recognizable names in the field. With the Junior PGA Championships coming up, we wanted to take a look at some of the alumni that will be competing this week.
Of the 27 total Junior PGA Champ alumni in the field, nine are making their debut. Including 2017 and 2018 Boys Junior PGA Champion and former Junior Ryder Cup team member Akshay Bhatia, who survived a 3-for-1 qualifier to earn his spot.
Fresh off his PGA Championship win last month, Phil Mickelson looks to complete his career grand slam. He competed in the 1986 Junior PGA Championship.
The list also includes Jordan Spieth, who finished runner-up in both 2008 and 2009, 2014 Junior PGA champion Sam Burns and 2013 runner-up Cameron Champ.

Phil Mickelson - 30th US Open Start
Mickelson played in the 1986 Junior PGA Championship.
Stewart Cink - 21st US Open start
Cink played in the 1989 & 1990 Junior PGA Championships.
Webb Simpson - 11th US Open Start
Simpson played in the 2003 Junior PGA Championship.
Jordan Spieth - 10th US Open start
Spieth finished runner-up in both the 2008 and 2009 Junior PGA Championships.
Chez Reavie - 9th US Open start
Reavie played in the 1997 Junior PGA Championship.
Justin Thomas - 7th US Open start
Thomas competed in the 2009 and 2019 Junior PGA Championships.
Tony Finau - 6th US Open start
Finau competed in the 2004 and finished runner-up in the 2006 Junior PGA Championships.
Scottie Scheffler - 4th US Open start
Scheffler competed in the Junior PGA Championships for three years straight from 2011-2013.
Will Zalatoris - 3rd US Open start
Like Scheffler, Zalatoris also competed for three years straight in the Junior PGA Championship, between 2010-2012.
Cameron Champ - 3rd US Open start
Champ competed in 2012 and claimed the runner-up spot at the 2013 Junior PGA Championship.
Sam Burns - 3rd US Open start
Burns competed between the years of 2012-2014. He finished runner-up in 2013 before winning the tournament in 2014.
Matthew Wolff - 2nd US Open Start
Wolff competed in 2016.
Akshay Bhatia - US Open debut
Bhatia, the 2017 and 2018 back-to-back Junior PGA champion, will make his US Open Debut this week.
