A Statement on the Passing of PGA Honorary Member Tim Rosaforte

Throughout his remarkable life, PGA Honorary Member Tim Rosaforte was driven by his deep devotion to the game of golf. He was a tireless reporter and an ambassador for the game, covering an astounding 147 major championships and 17 Ryder Cups. He also enjoyed telling the stories of PGA Professionals and his admiration for the PGA Member meant so much to us. Tim’s special commitment to serving his readers and viewers inspired his legendary scoops, which could always be trusted. While few golf reporters have broken more stories, Tim understood that a relationship was far more important than a moment. In 2020, we were proud that he was the first journalist elected as a PGA Honorary Member, which followed his recognition in 2014 as winner of the PGA Lifetime Achievement Award in Journalism - two honors that absolutely meant the world to Tim. His wonderful grace, charm and insight will be dearly missed by his many friends at the PGA of America and all across the game of golf. Our sympathies are with Tim’s wife, Genevieve, the Rosaforte family and all those who called him a friend.

Today, we lost a hero of the game. PGA Honorary Member Tim Rosaforte was more than a legendary reporter, he was a consummate friend. Living the mantra of “true to me, fair to you,” he realized the importance of building relationships and earning respect. Tim treated everyone from the clubhouse waiter to the world’s top players as equals, gaining their trust for exclusive stories as golf’s favorite “Mr. Insider.” A person whose presence truly lit up the room, Tim Rosaforte was a special friend that we will miss tremendously both personally and as an Association and a game. Our hearts at the PGA of America reach out to Genevieve and Tim’s entire family.
