From the Ryder Cup to the Open Championship, Austin Connelly continues to chase Jordan Spieth
Austin Connelly was a mere teenager when he followed around Jordan Spieth at the 2014 Ryder Cup as a young fan and friend. Three years later, he's still following Spieth. Except now he's chasing him at the Open Championship.

Connelly was a member of the 2014 Junior Ryder Cup team. Infact,he was a member of the foursome that won the "Friendship Match". It was there at Gleneagles, Scottland that Connelly and his fellow teammates had a meet and greet with the Ryder Cup pros. Connelly, who hails from Canada but has lived in Texas, drew inspiration from his fellow Texan Spieth, quickly bonding with him.
Not many people had the 20-year-old Canadian Connelly amongst the favorites at Royal Birkdale entering the Open Championship. An eagle on the second hole on Saturday started to turn some heads.

Spieth, of course, has been on absolute fire since his Traveler's Championship victory. While Branden Grace stole the show, setting a men's major record round of 62, Spieth continued to do his thing. He shot a 65 on the day, marking the seventh consecutive round that Spieth has had the lead.
