How much is Zach Johnson's putter worth?
Published on
By his own admission, Zach Johnson is often "under the radar" in golf tournaments, and that''s exactly where he was entering the Open Championship, despite almost winning the John Deere Classic the previous week. He's definitely on everyone's radar now, though, after winning his second major title on Monday.
Johnson put himself in position to claim the claret jug with a final-round 66 – tied for the best round of the day – capped off by a 30-foot birdie putt on the 18th green that got him into the three-man playoff. He ultimately won it largely because of birdies on the first two extra holes.
Johnson drained those pressure putts with a SeeMore FGP putter, a model he has used for several years – including to win the 2007 Masters. The unique blade – the flagship of the SeeMore family – is made of 303 stainless steel, and features SeeMore's patented RifleScope aiming system. In short, there's a small red dot on the crown behind the shaft. When you're lined up properly, SeeMore says, you can't see that red dot; if you can see it, you're not lined up correctly.
SeeMore's original FGP putter made its debut at retail a couple decades ago, and has a suggested retail price of $170. It currently has an estimated trade-in value of $21.37 and an estimated resale value of $61.06, according to the PGA.com Value Guide and Trade-in Network.
