How much is Hideki Matsuyama's 3-wood worth?

At only 23, Hideki Matsuyama is one of golf's fastest-rising young stars. But his youth doesn't translate to rash behavior, at least when it comes to selecting the clubs that go in his bag. Case in point: His TaylorMade RocketBallz Stage 2 3-wood.

The three-year-old club helped Matsuyama lead the field in hitting greens in regulation during his victory in the Waste Management Phoenix Open next week. And though he didn't hit the club as often as his irons, he relied on it in several crucial situations late on Sunday as he outdueled Rickie Fowler for his second PGA Tour victory.

The Stage 2 fairway wood is the follow-up to TaylorMade's original – and very popular – RocketBallz fairway clubs. Its thin face is made of ultra-high strength RocketSteel to help generate faster ball speed, while an improved Speed Pocket design flexes faster for more distance.

TaylorMade's Thick and Thin Crown design allows weight to be redistributed elsewhere in the clubhead to improve the center of gravity location and promote a higher launch with low spin for maximum carry. And its black clubface with a nonglare white crown makes it easy to align.

The RocketBallz Stage 2 fairway wood made its debut at retail in 2013 with a suggested retail price of $300. It currently has an estimated trade-in value of $15.57 and an estimated resale value of $34.60, according to the PGA.com Value Guide and Trade-in Network.
