Rusty has been a Class ‘A’ PGA Golf Professional since 1994, attaining the quarter century mark as well as being a Life Member with an active status.

“I was fortunate enough to grow up at Boonsboro Country Club and played on my high school and college team. When summer school was over … I was able to compete at various amateur events: the Payton Memorial, the Fox-Puss, the Eastern Amateur and the VSGA Amateur & Open.”

Key point for students: “I was a late bloomer and couldn’t break a 100 until age 14. I finally won the club junior 3.5 years later by listening more to my teacher and being stubborn enough not to give up. Back then you “learned the game in the dirt” – I don’t want my students to have to go through what I went through! It’s a beautiful game, but it requires us to learn the fundamentals the right way the first time.”

Rusty’s previous professional golf experience includes being a club General Manager, Head Professional and Lead Instructor having taught over 8,000 private and group lessons.

“I’ve spent most of my teaching career coaching new golfers of all ages and genders; plus encouraging them to play in fun events and if they aspire to a more serious level of play, I can guide them down that path as well.”
