Nicholas Cox
Assistant ProfessionalMy name is Nicholas Cox. I grew up moving around from Northern Colorado to Southern Wyoming and Western Wisconsin before graduating high school in Western Nebraska in 2006. Following high school, I joined the Air Force with the hopes of becoming a pilot on the F-22 Raptor airframe. However, I found out once I enlisted that I was partially color blind in 4 of 6 colors and quickly transitioned into a communications role before working my way into special operations. I was fortunate during my 11 years in the military to travel and live in various countries throughout the world.
Growing up, I played a lot of sports, though ironically, golf was not one of them. I began playing in Korea during my time in the Air Force. It wasn't until I was stationed in Alaska that I took my first lesson and had my eyes opened to a career in golf. While in Alaska, I retired early and was faced with a decision on what my next step in life would be. I visited New Mexico State University and met the PGA Golf Management director and his staff and knew immediately that I wanted to learn from them in order to pass along the game that I had fallen in love with.
Throughout my 5 1/2 years in school I completed internships at; Haymaker Golf Course in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, The Club at New Seabury, in Mashpee, Massachusetts and Bedens Brook Club in Skillman, New Jersey. I'm very pleased to now work with Shaun and the members of North Shore Country Club. I am a certified fitter with True Temper and Project X shafts and enjoy the process of fitting and finding the best clubs for each player. I enjoy competing as well and have played in tournaments across the country. In my time away from golf, I enjoy spending time working on my cars, playing with my dog, watching sports, and enjoying the outdoors.
