Sara Stephens is the owner of The Stephens Golf Center in Burlington, KY, in addition to the co-founder of The Academy at the Stephens Golf Center. Sara’s love for the game started at the age of 5 where she was introduced to the game of golf by her parents. Sara went on to become a standout junior golfer in Northern Virginia and continued her Collegiate Golf Career first at the University of Central Florida, but after two years, transferred to the University of Kentucky to finish her College Golf Career.

Upon graduating from Kentucky, Sara had already earned full exempt status on the LPGA Symetra Tour and began a full playing schedule that summer as a professional. Sara competed professionally full time for 3 seasons, highlighted by a victory on the Cactus Tour in Phoenix in February of 2012 and winning the professional division at the 2012 Kentucky Open in July.

Additional playing accomplishments since becoming a PGA Member include, 2014 Southern Ohio PGA Ladies Champion, just 4 weeks after giving birth to her son Nolan, and winning the Kentucky PGA Women's Section Championship 4 years in a row from 2020-2023.

Sara began her teaching career at Losantiville Country Club in Cincinnati and then Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati. Sara developed the junior golf curriculum at Maketewah and helped form the club’s PGA Junior League team which she also coached. Sara utilizes Trackman, K-Vest 3D, and Boditrak to help her not only make accurate assessments with students but to also help promote and establish the proper feel. Sara specializes in the instruction of junior golfers, intermediate players, and ladies. In 2014-2016, Sara was recognized as a U.S. Kids Top 50 Instructor Honorable Mention, and in 2022 was named to the US Kids Top 50 Instructor list. She believes in giving students a fun, non-judgmental environment during lessons to maximize the learning potential for the student.

Sara was elected to PGA Membership in the spring of 2015 and is currently the only female Class A PGA Professional in the Northern Kentucky area. Sara was also elected to the Board of Directors for the Kentucky PGA in 2016, becoming the first female in history to serve on the Kentucky PGA Board of Directors. Sara won the Kentucky PGA Player Development award in 2017 for her outstanding work in junior golf, including her “Golf In Schools” program which has introduced over 2500 children in Boone and Kenton county to the game of golf through their school gym classes. Sara also received the Kentucky PGA Professional Development Award in 2020. In 2019, Sara was one of 12 selected in to PGA of Americas PGA Lead Program in Cohort III.

Sara provides individual instruction for people of all ages and skill levels, and also organizes all of our group instruction programs at The Stephens Golf Center.

When Sara is not busy running The Stephens Golf Center or giving lessons, she loves spending quality time with her husband and fellow PGA Member, Andrew Stephens, and their two boys, Nolan and Payne, and their dog, Rosie. She is also an avid Cincinnati Bengals fan and chances are you will find her at every home game at Paycor Stadium.
