Gary was born in Lynchburg and grew up in Yorktown, VA. His golf career started in Lynchburg, VA in 1985, where he was the first Assistant Golf Professional at Popular Forest Golf Club. From there he moved on to Orlando, Florida where he obtained his PGA membership in 1992 becoming the Head Professional at International Golf Club. He also started the Maximum Performance Golf School, where he was the Director of a Instruction. While in Orlando he was privileged to work with some of the top instructors in the world, such as Phil Ritson and David Leadbetter. He also collaborated golf clinics for Big USA companies like IBM, working with Sam Snead, Dave Stockton, Mac O’Grady and Moe Norman.

Gary now resides at Smith Mountain Lake, VA and works with the First Tee of Roanoke Valley.
