Robison-Boyette lead PGA Senior-Junior Team Championship

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Gary Robison and Greg Boyette combined for a 7-under 65 Monday to lead after the first round of the PGA Senior-Junior Team Championship.

 

Robison, a North Canton, Ohio resident who won the Quarter Century Championship, and Boyette of Awendaw, S.C., were bogey-free on the Dye Course at PGA Golf Club to take a one-shot advantage over six teams.

Tied for second place with 66s were Chip Johnson-Liam Friedman, Frank Bensel-Anthony Aruta, Mike Martin-Peter Ballo, Randy Erskine-Kyle Martin and Craig Bowden-Brett Melton.

 

Suzy Whaley, serving as the first woman president of the PGA of America, is tied for 14th with Brittany Kelly with a 68. Defending champions Darrell Kestner and Sean Quinlivan are tied for 26th after a 69.

 

The 72-hole event is being played on the Wanamaker, Ryder and Dye courses at PGA Golf Club. There is a cut after 54 holes to the top 40 teams and ties.
