There's a pair of real eaglets on a California golf course

REDDING, Calif. -- Eagle watchers said they have confirmed two baby eaglets have hatched at a bald eagle nest on a golf course in Redding.

Terri Lhuillier, an avid eagle watcher, said she and other members of the Fans of the Redding Eagles have taken photos of two eaglets in the nest.

Based on photos she has taken, Lhuillier said she has counted two eagles in the nest with Spirit and Liberty, the two adult eagles that moved from their nest near the Highway 44 bridge across the Sacramento River to the course at Riverview Golf and Country Club on Bechelli Lane in south Redding.

"We were really excited to be able to see them," Lhuillier said.

An eagle pair including Liberty had nested along the Sacramento River since at least 2007, but this year moved to the golf course, shortly after the group had an upgraded camera installed above the river nest which live streamed video onto the Internet.

There is no camera above the current nest, so Lhuillier said she and her friends have to watch for clues about what is going on in the nest, such as snapping photos or watching the adult eagles bring food to the young.

Based on the adult eagle behavior, Lhuillier estimated the two baby eagles are about two weeks old.
