Martin Piller puts PGA Tour hopes on hold to be with his wife, Gerina, at the Solheim Cup
It’s been an up-and-down few years on the golf course for Martin Piller. In 2016, he finished an underwhelming 162nd in the FedEx Cup. In 2017, a similar story – he’s missed 11 of 15 cuts. However, Piller won the Ellie Mae Classic by a stroke – propelling him to 26th on the money list.
Why is this significant? Because the top 25 earn their PGA Tour card for 2018. Suffice it to say: the News Sentinel Open is important for Piller this weekend.
But not as important as supporting his wife. Gerina Piller is a standout golfer herself – she is competing in this weekend’s Solheim Cup. Gerina has racked up four top-10 finishes in 2017, but no wins – Martin is hoping to see her first:
There is a lot of love and collective golf talent between these two.
