2018 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship: Live updates from Harbor Shores

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- England's Paul Broadhurst was unstoppable at Harbor Shore's in Sunday's final round of the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.

Broadhurst fired a best-of-the-day 8-under 63 and at 18-under 265, he claimed the Alfred S. Bourne Trophy and the second major championship win of his senior career to go along with the 2016 Senior Open Championship. It matched the best 72-hole score in tournament history first recorded here at Harbor Shores by Rocco Mediate in 2016.

The 63 by Broadhurst was also the lowest final-round score by a champion in championship history.

Tim Petrovic, who was tied for the 54-hole lead with Scott McCarron, finished second at 15 under, four strokes behind Broadhurst. McCarron, meanwhile, finished at 14 under and in tie for second with Jerry Kelly.

This latest victory was the fourth overall for the 52-year-old Broadhurst on the PGA Tour Champions.

Broadhurst started the final round two strokes off the lead, but immediately cut the deficit to one stroke with a birdie at the first hole. He also picked up birdies on Nos. 5, 7 and 9 to go out in 4-under 32. 

Broadhurst took the lead alone for the first time, and ultimately for good, when he birdied the 12th to reach 17 under.

His biggest test came at the par-4 14th hole. That's where Broadhurst sent a birdie chip about 30 feet past the hole, but made the comebacker for an unlikely par to remain in the lead at 17 under. 

He added his final birdie at the par-3 17th. 

It was the second win of the season for Broadhurst. He also teamed with Kirk Triplett earlier this year to win the 2018 Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf.

TOURNAMENT HISTORY: The oldest and most prestigious major championship in senior golf, the Senior PGA Championship was founded in 1937 and first played at Augusta National Golf Club. The list of winners through the years includes many of golf's biggest names, including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gene Sarazen, Tom Watson, Lee Trevino, Hale Irwin, Gary Player, and Sam Snead, who won the title a record six times. 

Over the years, the tournament has been staged at such prominent venues as PGA National, Firestone Country Club, Ridgewood Country Club, Aronimink Golf Club, Valhalla Golf Club, Oak Tree Golf Club, Canterbury Golf Club, Bellerive Country Club and the Kiawah Island Resort.     

TROPHY: Paul Broadhurst will have his name engraved on the Alfred S. Bourne Trophy, one of the most distinctive trophies in all of golf. It is named for Alfred Severin Bourne, an original member at Augusta National and longtime friend of PGA Professionals. Bourne donated $1,500 to pay for the 30-pound trophy and create an endowment for the tournament.
