PGA of America to present the 2019 PGA Championship on GOLFZON golf simulators in South Korea
Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – In an initiative to grow fan engagement, the PGA of America has entered into a licensing agreement to simulate the 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage Black on GOLFZON simulators in South Korea through June 23.
GOLFZON is a leading golf simulator company with more than 2 million online members. The company has been recognized by Golf Digest as an Editor’s Choice Award winner in the “Best Simulator/Premium” category from 2017-2019.
Golf fans can replicate various course conditions at Bethpage Black, such as fairway, rough and sand positions on a moving swing plate, which gives the user the ability to experience the course’s contour, undulation and terrain. In addition, player and course data from the PGA Championship—which was won in historic back-to-back fashion by Brooks Koepka—will be integrated into the simulation to replicate how the top players in the world approached one of the world’s most popular public courses.
More than 56 million rounds are played on GOLFZON simulators in 46 countries on an annual basis. GOLFZON has eight play modes and a junior tee box, so families can play the same course together. Meanwhile, over 80 percent of new golfers in South Korea use golf simulations to get started in the game, according to GOLFZON research.
“The PGA of America is always looking for exciting new ways to utilize innovative technology to grow the sport of golf across the globe,” said Chief Innovation Officer Arjun Chowdri. “With GOLFZON’s simulators, golf fans across South Korea now have an exciting opportunity to gain a virtual experience of what it was like to play in the 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage Black.”
"We are happy to present the PGA Championship through our GOLFZON simulators, so many Korean golfers can enjoy playing it virtually with the same course conditions," said John Kim, head of the global business division at GOLFZON. "South Korea is the world's third-largest golf market with seven percent annual growth, and GOLFZON has played a major role in expanding the indoor golf market."
