Update: Graeme McDowell's missing clubs found by Air France and returned

Graeme McDowell withdrew from a 36-hole qualifier for The Open Championship at St. Anne's Old Links on Monday after losing his clubs in transit following a flight from Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport to Manchester.

McDowell, who owns a pair of top-10 finishes at The Open, will instead turn his focus to the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open — another qualifying opportunity.

UPDATE: Air France located McDowell's clubs and delivered them to the golfer's hotel on Wednesday.

The 2010 U.S. Open winner took to Twitter to explain his situation after his clubs initially went missing.

Need assistance from @airfrance. Flew into Manchester last night from CDG and my golf clubs are untraceable. I have a 36 qualifier tomorrow for @TheOpen and really need my bag. Thanks in advance. #help

McDowell didn't play in The Open in 2017 but he competed in the 13 years before that, finishing tied for fifth in 2012 at Royal Lytham & St. Annes and tied for ninth at Royal Liverpool in 2014.

As McDowell mentioned in one of his tweets above, he can still qualify for The Open Championship if he finishes among the top three non-exempt finishers at the Irish Open (from July 5-8) or Scottish Open (from July 12-15).

The PGA Tour and European Tour veteran from Northern Ireland has had mixed results in the Irish Open, where he finished tied for sixth in 2014 but missed the cut in 2013 and 2017.
